KING OF KART FISHING AT STARS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES AT NEW CASTLE!

Updated: May 24, 2022

Nothing to really say about this weekend, EXCEPT it was a up and down weekend.

We were slow on Friday cause my seat tabs on my Tony kart broke, so then me and my parents had to thrash through the night to get my new Nitro built in time for Saturday warmup.

By Saturday warmup we showed good speed on the Nitro in the first session, I got p2 in that. In Heat 1 we went out, and I passed the leader but he passed me back and left me, then got freight trained, so I finished p8. Severe Storms were in the area the rest of the day, which caused the day to come to an end.

Then it was race day, we struggled to find grip in morning warmup because it was colder than it had been all weekend. Heat 2 cam around, since we didn’t get to run it yesterday due to storms, we went out starting 3rd, I passed the leader, left the pack for little then they passed me back and I got ran off. Next lap comes and I went for the pass on a driver, did not expect the driver in front of me to brake so soon, I locked up my brakes, and spun into the pond and went fishing. SO that ended my heat 2 with a DNF.

Then it was pre final time, I had a bad start with a pile up in front of me that was unavoidable. I recovered from that and finished in p13 from being dead last. Due to a 5 second bumper penalty it bumped me down to 17th, which lined me up 17th in the final.

Then it was final time, I was ready to go and started 17th. I had an amazing start got up to p10 in the first turn/lap, then I got up to p7 catching down the top 5, when I went for the pass on a driver, who unfortunately made contact with me which made me go down to p8. After that I lost the group and was just driving around by myself, so finished the final off in 8th from 17th, out of 31 drivers.

Thank you John Grim and Alissa Grim for always helping me. Tammy Johnson-Tutwiler and Ed Tutwiler for always making sure I was ok and Ed for the funny jokes and supporting me. Comet Engines for the fast motor, even though I got a little water in it this weekend :) Thank you to Nick Tucker at Nitro Kart for all the support this weekend on the new chassis, I think we may have figured out something that is just right for me.

Great job to my friend Luke Powers on his win and Eli Warren on his 2nd place finish. It was a great race to watch.

Next is VIR in my Miata. Let’s get it!!!
