We struggled with the kart all weekend long. We changed the entire kart so many times and nothing seemed to help it turn at all. I know my driving isn't perfect and I have a lot to work on, but a lot of this weekend was my chassis and not being able to turn, no matter what we did to it.
Thursday was practice day and we showed okay speed, but still very slow, even slower than I was at the last club race. My dad made changes to see if it would help it go any faster on Friday.
Friday we got 3 practice sessions then our Saturday and Sunday qualifying. I never got any faster, I just stayed the same. I qualified crappy at 46th out of 55 for both days and over a second off, which again I am never a second off at this track.
Race day Saturday, they split our classes up in Even/Odd classes, which I was in the even class. I started 23rd in the prefinal, I got hit in the rear going into a turn which ended my race, which put me in the LCQ. We were so frustrated with the day that we decided to sit out the LCQ and try again Sunday.
My dad once again changed everything on the kart even the motor so we could eliminate what the problem was.
Sunday I lined up 23rd in my group, I had a great start and got up to 17th, which gave me a spot in the final. When it was final time I started 36th out of 44 drivers, I had a horrible start, had nowhere to go and had to avoid a total carnage in turn 1, which slowed me way down at the beginning. Then my motor started bogging and almost died so I had to pull in to end my day.
I want to give a big thanks to Jimmy Simpson for drivers coaching me, I learned a lot this weekend, you helped me tremendously. I also wanna give a big thanks to my parents Alissa Grim & John Grim for letting me race and giving me the opportunity to learn.
Overall terrible weekend but I learned a lot, and hoping to take what I learned into the next race.
NEXT UP WKA AT NEW CASTLE MOTORSPORTS WHERE I WILL BE RUNNING IN THE KA 100 JR CLASS ONLY!
